New Global Study on Refractive Errors
OptikosPrime and Karolinska Institutet are redefining how we understand vision
At OptikosPrime, we’re driven by a simple belief: there’s always a better way to care for vision. That’s why we’ve partnered with Karolinska Institutet, a world leader in medical research, to launch a groundbreaking global study on refractive errors. By tapping into decades of real-world data, we’re uncovering how vision evolves over a lifetime, and turning those insights into tools that make eye care smarter, simpler, and more accessible.
How It Works
This study analyzes refractive data from patients aged 0 to 100, pulling from records dating back to the 1980s through today. Think of it as a time machine for eye health: millions of data points revealing trends in nearsightedness, farsightedness, and more. With this, we’re building a cutting-edge tool that lets anyone, anywhere check their vision with ease, while giving researchers a clearer picture of how vision develops over time.
Why It Matters
- Early Detection: More people can spot vision issues before they worsen, opening the door to timely care.
- Simplified Testing: Eye exams become fast, intuitive, and available to all. No fancy equipment required.
- Real Impact: Combining tech and eye care expertise, we’re creating solutions that change lives, from classrooms to clinics.
Tony Pansell, Optometrist at St. Erik Eye Hospital and Professor at Karolinska Institutet, puts it best:
“This research has the potential to revolutionise how people detect and manage their vision needs, bridging the gap between technology and clinical eye care.”
Join Us in Shaping the Future
To take this study even further, we’re seeking partners to contribute anonymised refractive data and help refine this innovation.
If you’re an eye care professional, researcher, or organisation passionate about transforming vision care, we’d love to collaborate.
